Today's walk
We set off from the picturesque village of Blanchland. Caroline led 23 of us up onto the moors via Pennypie House. The views were wonderful and I'm pleased that I managed to capture this panorama with 6 handheld shots, while the rest of the walkers waited for me to finish the task.
It was very dry on the moors. The heather is nearly out. Next week it should be spectacular. We don't know if there will be a glorious 12th because we did not see any grouse up there. The weather has been against them.
We ate our lunch in the shooters' lodge. It has long forms and tables so it's good for groups. The rain at lunchtime did not last. The wind blew it away.
Back to the Lord Crewe Arms for drinks in the garden.
6.2 miles and very easy walking.
