Dublin Leagues Tennis
Mixed Doubles Final took place this evening
Teams from my club got through to finals in Class 1 and Class 2 which is a great achievement. I went to watch the games and the standard was very high. In my heyday in doubles I played Class 2 and it was competitive but fun.
Our Class 1 team met Terenure in the final and our Class 2 team met Bray, Co. Wicklow in the final. It was a lovely evening, and great tennis was played. As the hosting team, a super supper is laid on and the wine is hauled up from the vault. I put my name down for a place on a team but I’m a bit decrepit at the moment so no joy there - I need to work on my flexibility. Peutetre naechstes Jahr, Jean.
I had a great swim today. Bought a navy/white striped deckchair, left a bunch of clothes to Cancer Shop (but I’m going to buy back a skirt tomorrow - think I was a bit hasty there), sorted out a financial thing that I kept putting off and made a cauldron of stewed apple (tip - squeeze some lemon into mix to prevent brown discolouration; sweeten with honey not sugar - honey is a preservative and lastly just the barest hint of cinnamon); it’s bottled and awaiting distribution to my mammy and her cronies; some swim buddies and my neighbours. And there is-still a huge number of apples on the 3 trees.
And last but not least - I had swordfish in lime and ginger for my tea…. Why you might ask. Well it was reduced to 4 euros from 12 euros and that’s why.
