SPLURK!
We are apparently having a rainy August, as it rains nearly every day now. It was dry for weeks. Now it's wet all the time. There's a hurricane coming our way Friday, with threats of flooding. Wouldn't something somewhere in the middle of too dry and too wet be nice, for a change?
We had a nice breakfast and I waited on the front porch for the rain to stop, as the weather radar said it would. But I waited. And waited. And then took off on my bike in a light drizzle. Who else do you know who rides bike in the rain with sunglasses on? WHO?
I headed over to check out my favorite pond in the Barrens. In summertime, it gets quite low, and it even disappears sometimes in August. But I am happy to report that there is water in it. Not a lot, but some. Enough to make some good reflections shots!
I stood there, as I so often did in springtime, zooming in on the reflections on the water. The rain was dripping down out of the trees, and suddenly - SPLURK! - look at that huge raindrop making its dramatic appearance there in the top right of frame. SPLURK, indeed!
My soundtrack song is Have You Ever Seen the Rain. First, by CCR, who made it famous. Second, by Joan Jett, who did an amazing cover.
Here are some additional reflection shots from this pond in springtime!
