Cutting
Negligible progress on the indoor 16mm:ft shunting layout but at least I have got the basis of the bank in place.
I've had to dismantle the rest of the model to get enough space in the room to actually work on this - it's not really just 25 scale yards long!
I'd been deliberating how to generate the 'ground' without adding huge amounts to the weight. I settled on expanding foam with a guiding framework / mould. As ever with expanding foam you go from 'that's never enough' through 'oh, that may be too much' to backing slowly out of the door.
That was a couple of days ago and the ex-breadknife has machete'd it back into shape (and off the floor...) now that it's solidified..
The hole is a guttering socket firmly fixed t the underlying woodwork so I can 'plug in' a sizeable tree. In this scale, a full size sycamore should be over a metre high. I don't have that sort of nerve but it'll still be bigger than you'd want permanently attached.
