Pitsligo Castle, #DS414

Pitsligo Castle was the home of one of the most prominent  Jacobites in Aberdeenshire- Alexander, 4th Lord Forbes of Pitsligo. He 'came out' for both the Prince and his father in their campaigns of 1715 and '45.He raised a regiment of Horse in the 45 and was outlawed in the aftermath of Culloden. Although the castle was plundered by Hanoverian troops and he forfeited, his estate Lord Pitsligo lived out the rest of his days as a fugitive,  loyally aided by his former tenants in his bids to escape capture.
