Ripstick Hebrides
Really difficult to choose a Blip for today.
We all cycled down to Loch Skipport in the morning with picnic in panniers and on back packs. 6 children and no complaining as the wheels zoomed up and down hills with amazing views to Hecla.
A lazy time at the old pier in Loch Skipport which seems to disappear more every time we visit. Apparently big steamers from Glasgow used to dock here in the Herring Boom years. Such a sense of history.
We sat in the sun watching the gannets plunge and the terns swoop then were entertained by a couple of Argentinian divers diving for scallops.
I thought the heat had got to me when I looked above me and saw a bridal bouquet go past. Then one of the children called out that there was a bride above us on the slope!
And so it was!!
A beautiful bride and her dashing husband - she in white dress, woolly socks and trainers, he in full ceremonial ?RAF? uniform (complete with a huge sword to impress the wee boys!)..
They were a lovely couple and asked for our raggle taggle group to be in their wedding photos - what a lovey memory!
In the afternoon we set of to the new Deli in Benbecula for a wee fiddle and accordion ceilidh then in the evening out to the opening night ceilidh for Ceolas - fantastic!
So, today's Blip could have been a beautiful tern on the pier at Loch Skippport, the old pier itself, the bridal party, the contents of an old croft I nosed around in, the Hebridean scenery, musical shots......
In the end I decided to go with modern child meets Hebridean peace...Lewis on his Ripstick!
