When I was a lad

This is the old Red Lion pub which is now an antique shop I talked about how the lads at ICI used to row across the river to get a pint at dinner time, my memories of it was a dirty crabby place with mild or bitter and red rose over mild was the tipple of those of us allegedly too young to drink and the bar had the normal hand pumps and a piston in a glass type for the Greenhalls mild & bitter.
The trees on the left were planted in or around July/August 1976 and the reason I know that is I dug 3 of the 18 holes for the saplins although at the time the holes were more like fox holes as the ground was hard clay almost sandstone in density and we never thought the trees planted care of ICI would ever survive.
