Packing up day
One for Flower Friday, with bonus hoverfly wasp :-) (Thank you, AngelShare!)
I love the intense blue of an agapanthus, and there's a wonderful cluster of them down by the river here.
We are booked onto the 10.30 ferry from Belfast to Birkenhead tomorrow morning. There are many reports from local authority and police sources of planned marches today and tomorrow, of both the anti-immigrant and the anti-racist kind. Last weekend far-right groups blocked some of the roads between here and Belfast.... I am hoping, for everyone's sake, that this doesn't happen again. We'll be setting off a bit earlier than usual, just in case.
Richard and I have very different ways of approaching unpredictable situations like this one. He sticks to the view that it'll probably be all right, and that if it isn't, there's nothing we can do. I prefer to hunt out whatever information I can find, in advance: forewarned is forearmed, etc. I also find the process of searching for information soothing in itself; the illusion of regaining some control, perhaps. So we had a slightly crossed-wires discussion about it all last night. He interprets my hunting for information as a sign of needless anxiety; I feel he's being unnecessarily fatalistic (and failing to take advantage of available information). After a few rather tetchy exchanges, we did untangle the crossed wires eventually.
