Hairy broom

All around the hills and fields of our area of southern Andalucia, these hairy-fruited broom (Cytisus striatus) are abundant. They are native to the western Iberian Peninsula and are also known here as the Portuguese broom. The bushes are sometimes as high as two metres and quite sprawling, as shown in the extra. There are little yellow flowers -- no longer given the drying summer heat --  with pods covered in white hairs.  The seeds are spread by ants.

Have a happy relaxing weekend fellow blippers. I can't believe the Olympics are coming to an end. What will we watch next week?
