End of Flight, Start of Cruise

We thought that our journey to the Lake District was a long one but today's drive home was EPIC. Due in small part to a slightly slower initial route via Winder,mere (I'd not been before, hence the blip) - coffee & cake too); the majority of the rest was motorway madness with diversions from the M6 to M60 and M61, then back onto the M6 and finally the M5, all of which resembled car parks at numerous points. In total 7 hours and 26 minutes driving time!

We stopped three times to break up the journey. Windermere, Shakerley where we had a delicious lunch at the pub and a walk around the lake (just minutes off the M6) and finally Strensham Services on the home stretch. In all it took us more than 10 hours to get home.

What a brilliant holiday though, weather good, fantastic scenery, some good walks, great food and excellent accommodation. Apart from the journey time getting there and back, and getting lost..... what's not to like?
