Journey to the Surface of the Sun

This huge sunspot is steadily developing, with the potential for powerful flares. The Earth would be dwarfed by it.
The speckled background are convective cells of plasma bubbling up from the interior.
A specialist filter was used over the lens of my telescope to reduce the Sun's light to safe levels. Colour was added in post-processing, the Sun's light is white. 
Please do not attempt to look at the Sun with a scope or camera without proper filters, it will do neither your eyes nor your gear any good!
