High and low

Had an early GP appointment first thing…she was lovely and very easy to chat to, then home to do some prep for a phone call about new role which was straightforward. In the afternoon I pushed myself to just finish the financial assessment forms for assistance with P’s care bills. So detailed, frustrating and requiring lots of printing and checking across different accounts and invoices but at least it’s done. Now it will no doubt take weeks for any response! I also sent copies of the will off to MC and MW as the other beneficiaries explaining about the delay to selling the house etc. MW replied almost immediately and all seems fine from his end.
Later in the afternoon I went to see the El Anatsui exhibition in Talbot Rice Gallery for the Art Festival launch. Lovely to chat to TG and several others I know and always feels so welcoming there. The large scale draped pieces, all made from flattened bottle caps and scrap metal joined together with tiny rings, are very striking and rather moving. I liked to hear about how each curator has the freedom to hang as they choose, and apparently when the artist came to see it he was very moved by the nighttime illumination of the outdoor hanging of the huge work in the quad….lovely.
Home for some chilli from the freezer for supper then later I went out to see Dylan Mulvaney’s show. It was great….a full on, high camp hour where we were thrown between laughter and tears and back as she told her very personal yet social-media-public story. It takes some courage….I'm not sure she would have been sure of the rapturous response she received tonight.
