The latest read

I have come to the realisation that we place too much of our happiness on materialistic things. I’ve also realised that these things don’t make us happy. I’ve been reading a lot of books lately about this. This is the current one.

I have no intentions of becoming a hermit and giving up all money but I do intend to get rid of a lot of the junk I’ve been hoarding on the assumption it would make me happy.

I’m at my happiest when I’m spending time with the teenager, or walking the dog, or in Bulgaria. I want a simpler life. With that in mind I’ve made some pretty huge life decisions.

When the teenager finishes her GCSEs I’m moving back to Coventry. When she starts university I’m going to move somewhere rural that will allow me to live a quiet simple life. Ideally I’d go to my house in Bulgaria but the chances of me getting a visa in our post Brexit world are almost zero.
