For the family

A day of gardening and shopping

I was correct when I anticipated sleeping badly last night. I dozed off and on until after 4 am, but managed a solidly 4 hrs afterwards.

The working day started with planting up the left side of the front garden. It intermittently drizzled with rain, but we plodded on. It felt like a Sunday, but it was reassuring to know that it was Saturday and time wasn’t running away.

We headed for the tip to get rid of the old turf, then on to B & Q for more gravel and plants, then to Tesco’s. A coffee and shared cake, before buying food for the week.

The begonias in the picture were on offer, I didn’t go intending to buy them, but the contents of two of my hanging baskets are looking well past their best and for the minimal expense well worth a swap. A good soak and dead heading, then overnight in the potting shed, I will plant them up tomorrow.

R is home from Oxford after two very busy weeks, without any free time. It will be good to see her tomorrow.
