Rievaulx Terrace
A trip to the National Trust Rievaulx Terrace which is only open at a weekend. Built by the Duncombe family largely for entertainment in the buildings at either end of the terrace. One decorated with artwork similar to those seen on the Grand Tour. Their main house is a mile or two away in Helmsley.
Breaks through the trees allow views of Rievaulx Abbey down below. Managed to grab this view whilst the sun was out. Good to see lots of Peacock butterflies enjoying the wildflowers. Fortunately the wood was providing shelter from the blustery wind.
