The Big Walk

The Monday Morning Walking Group had a plan. Walk from Seatown along the coastal path to West Bay (known to the world these days as Broadchurch!). Lunch at The Watchhouse in West Bay and bus back to Lyme. Splendid idea. We'll take kagoules as we know what a British summer is like but hopefully it won't be raining too hard or be too cold and windy. What's that ? We're having a heat wave ? Ha ! No problem.

First stop this morning was the pub in our village to ask where the bus stops. "At the bus shelter in the car park" ok ok we're not used to buses. "You're doing what ? You're walking how far ?" The Landlord and his wife were seriously worried for our mental and physical health.

Anyway to cut a long story short we had a fantastic walk nearly 4 miles over 5 clifftops and down into West Bay. We stopped often for water and replenishment of sun cream or of anything else that Jane could find in her rucksack.

Here are the group stopping for a drink halfway up the second ascent. L-R Jane, Fiona, Jacqueline, Deb and Sam. A really happy day and didn't we feel noble at the end ?! Thanks ladies - such fun !!
