Grumpy Old Man

On the waterfront

Sunday morning, and a dry one, so I set off on my regular litter-picking walk. Not too bad this time - just one bag for a 90 minute collection.

When I got back we talked about going out for a picnic, though neither of us could be bothered to go too far, so eventually we decided to pop over to Dungallen Park, a stretch of grass with seats overlooking the sea on the south edge of the town. We should have walked, I suppose, but I felt that I'd done my share of walking so we drove the ten minutes or so and chose a bench in the sun.

It's a very relaxing place, with the occasional dog walker and the odd family having a picnic, and a view reaching from McCaig's Tower on the right to the south point of the island of Kerrera on the left. In between are the mountains of Mull on the left and Morvern on the right and the town laid out across the bay. We enjoyed a picnic and a read and a bit of boat-spotting - it's adjacent to the Yacht Club so there are dozens of boats moored there. My picture doesn't do it justice!

Quote of the Day: “The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever.” – Jacques Cousteau.
