Sunday in the park with friends
Russell stayed with us last night. We'd been to a three-gatden party. He'd come all the way from Sussex and didn't need to rush off, so we had breakfast and then went for a walk up the Horns Valley and down through the Heavens. The weather was set to be very hot, and although we had a great walk, we had to change when we got back, because it was so humid.
Steve and I prepped a simple.lunch, and V came round too. We had a leisurely meal, and then Russell, V and I went off to Stratford park, while Steve went for a siesta. We lay on a rug under the trees and listened to the Doddington Parish Brass Band, who were very good, far better than the band I saw a couple of weeks ago. Then we walked along the model railway line in the arboretum, and along the upper path through the trees. Cool shade welcomed us, and soothed our skins.
V went home, and Russell and Steve and I had a last cup of tea before Russell set off home again. I went and had a lie down. Then my book on mushrooms arrived. I'm not sure what to make of it yet. I have not eaten any mushrooms today.
I'm now watching a newly -colourised set of photographs woven into a documentary about the Titanic. I wasn't much interested in this terrible disaster until I visited the Titanic exhibit in Belfast in May this year. No one could have been failed to be moved by the sights and sounds and artefacts of that immersive museum experience.
What a beautiful, relaxing laid back Sunday I've had,.in great company too!
