Turning seasons

I’d love to know the variety of this horse chestnut tree, it shows no sign of the debilitating disease that’s afflicting most other chestnut trees. It also has an astounding number of conker cases, from the lowest branches to the highest. And the leaf colour is much deeper than I’m used to seeing. Time for some tree ID lessons for me. Or maybe it’s just had a lucky escape. Either way it’s a real delight to see.

The other observation is how the subtle seasonal changes are afoot, even in high summer. There’s still a way to go for the conkers to be revealed but change is a-coming.
