Melancholy Thistle, 2013

It's mid-July, and Melancholy Thistles, Cirsium heterophyllum are now coming into flower once again around here.

They seed profusely in our climate, and there seem to be more than ever in our garden this year, which should banish any thoughts of melancholy and keep us 'merry as crickets' for the coming year...
