Jodie and her sculpture

Today, Mom and I drove down to Loveland. It's a couple hours south into Colorado. My good friend Jodie Atherton had earned a spot in a huge, juried sculpture show. She makes works out of found and recycled materials and they generally concern water and climate issues.
I just looked on her website and this is what it says about this sculpture:
Lindy
Let’s dance!
Celebrate and live fully.
Twist and turn.
Go with the flow.
Bend into the wind.
Unwind.
Value the intention and the spin of life and living on our shared planet.
Perception and care for the details of living and creating.
A color wheel of elegant lines,
intertwine with grace.

I love all the spools of threads that she has created the skirt out of. The extra is a few more sculptures that I took photos of. Jodie also did the  first sculpture in the collage. It's made with a glass globe that was my Granny's etched glass light but had broken. Jodie took it probably 10 years ago and finally came up with this:
Silver Linings
Silver candy dish, broken glass globe, cast wax hands, acrylic paint, hand made nest, trash, world marble, lagomorph skull. The future is in our hands,
let us turn the broken into beautiful.
Lagomorphs in the order of rabbits, hares and picas are versatile mammals that live in a wide range of places throughout the world.
Just like humans and our habitats.
These fluffy creatures play important roles in the interactions between predator and prey, helping each other thrive in our ecosystems.
Our world and society sometimes feel broken…
It’s time to transform.
Stand up.
Breathe in.
And, out.
Live in harmony.
Choose.
Soulfully, wisely.
I am enough, and
Whole.
She is amazing and does amazing work. If you want to look at more of her artwork here is the link to her website:

The show itself was amazing with artists from all over the country. This was the 40th anniversary of it. There were 4 huge tents with the (very expensive) artwork on display. Stone, wood, glass, bronze, you name it there were pieces there. The photos I took really doesn't do justice to what was there but I just took some photos outside instead of in the tents.
