Found!
We were prepared to go back to the local playground today and bring our lunch for a picnic.
As I was packing things up, Mimi demanded “hat. HAT. HAAAAT” (her vocabulary is still quite limited but new words are joining her repertoire remarkably fast). I just couldn’t find it. It’s been missing for more than a week. “Damn it,” I said. “Dammit!” said Mimi. Note to self- clean up my language.
I asked Shawn to search for it while I got myself ready to go (I am always last). While in the shower, I was racking my brain about where I last saw it. At the dog agility show at the zoo!
We loaded up the car and drove off, sans hat. On the way to the playground, I called the zoo to ask if it turned up in lost and found. Shocked and happy, they had it! So, instead of turning left, we got onto the freeway. The zoo has multiple playgrounds and plenty of picnic space. We have annual membership passes, so the afternoon was not lost. However, because we weren’t planning on going there, I didn’t have my wallet (nor did we have our stroller but that was a separate issue). Luckily, a digital copy of my photo ID did the trick and they gave me a courtesy ticket at the gate.
What luck! Because of some good person, I will be sure to take the extra effort to (more consistently) turn items in to lost and found, especially children’s items, as I now understand how frustrating it is that they throw things to the ground left and right.
Picnic in the grass, a romp at the playground, a few pets at the petting zoo (Mimi likes Baa Baa Black Sheep) and then home for nap.
Spent the evening enjoying the pleasant weather from our backyard. I set up some paper and crayons, and the pikler triangle on the turf / the "grass."
