Run grouse, run!

I quite often see this grouse on the way back from walking the dogs. I guess he is pretty safe unlike so many other birds on this the “Glorious Twelfth” when the grouse shooting season starts.
There was an article in the local press about grouse shooting.
I sent a letter in response to it and this is the main part

“The article focusses on the so called economic benefits of grouse shooting. But nowhere does it mention the fact that the totally innocent and defenceless grouse are slaughtered to satisfy the bloodthirsty needs of the shooters.
The fact that the birds are “driven” towards the status seeking gunmen makes it an even more barbaric activity.”
I have no idea why the rich, the landed gentry and the “royal family” who take part in this “sport” feel the need to behave in this disgusting way!
