Heading home
Got up and packed up, cleared, emptied, washed cars a little and headed off to the airport.
All relatively smooth. A few of us won’t forget the fiasco with my water bottle. I had filled it and frozen it overnight all week, as it provided an ice block for sandwiches and cold water for me. But by the time we needed to get through security, the ice block hadn’t melted enough to tip out of the bottle. Obviously the airport wasn’t as hot as everywhere else. Dilemma. Throw my bottle away or thaw the ice somehow?!
We tried the later. Hot hand air dryers in the loos, bashing, filling, tipping, refilling … it took a long time and the photo is Elbows patiently waiting.
Flight all good. Collecting car all ok. Home and wonderful to see the dogs and cat again. Longest ever journey from Gatwick to home though. Holiday traffic (groan).
