a waste

of money.

Here in Newbury Park station they're doing a whole load of work which I hope isn't as much of a waste as this seat. In the distance you can see the perfectly serviceable and comfortable seat put in by the GER. Still good after about 100 years and probably good for another.

Nearer to the camera you can see squares of concrete where the supports for other seats like that were taken out and replaced by the much better modern - seat - lifespan probably twenty years.

At a stroke some bright spark has spent money taking the GER seating out, reduced the nimber of seats available, and spent more money putting in some dodgy looking substandard seat that adds nothing to the station and in fact changes its character.

Its probably the same bloke who designed the godawful double deckers we have to ride on on the 86 route
