Night sky

A friend who is a very keen astro photographer was going out to play and needed company; I was hoping to see the meteors. We went to Bude to the sea pool and enjoyed a few hours trying to capture something! Mine were all totally ghastly (not sharp) but as a first attempt I'm still showing as we saw the aurora, until the clouds rolled in.  There are streaks in both of these - not sure if either is a meteor, but  . . .. 
I'll go again but need to you-tube and see better how to set my camera!
