The Princess and the Dog

Culture Fail

Dear O'H dear, Lovely Tea Jenny and The Mini Princesses,

We went for a wander this morning past the very impressive Royal Palace. We ended up in Retiro and had planned to go round the park but it was already over 30° so we detoured into CentroCentro, a cultural centre located in Palacio de Cibeles. This was mainly because we knew there would be air conditioning. And it was free entry!

One of the exhibitions was called ‘Wet Dreams’ although this was significantly less interesting than you might imagine. The exhibition ‘addresses the concept of water beyond its understanding as a resource’.

Riiiight!

There was stuff about rivers, displays of pipes and pictures of people on toilets. I was crying watching The Prince’s face going round. He declared it to be a load of *word that rhymes with bank* and we left giggling like school kids.

The temperature by mid afternoon was high thirties so we decided to respect local traditions and stayed inside for siesta time before heading out for another lovely dinner sitting outside and a couple of sangrias. We made some new English friends at the table next to us who heard our accents and wanted to talk to us, mainly about Gerry Cinnamon as they are massive fans!

Madrid is such a relaxed place. I would definitely come back here. Although I’d pick a slightly cooler time of year!
