100 years of history
Lappeenranta Church as a Evangelical Lutheran church had its 100th birthday today. Originally Russian military started to built it 1912 as an orthodoxid church, but 1st World War interrupted that project.
After Finland became independent 1917, the unfinished church initially became the property of the state, but later it was transferred to the parish of Lappeenranta and was finally completed and taken in use 12th of August 1924.
Tonight was the church history night event, which filled the church hall with people interested in church history. At the same, the book of Church Memories, which I made a layout was announced. Also a photo exhibition of the church's Jubilee year was opened, where I was one of the judge and I also prepared exhibition and took care of all marketing activities. I also prepared the photo presentation on the wall. And all that about in one and a half month period. Events continue until the 18th of August, which is also my last workday before the five week summer holiday.
