A family day tour by car (2 3/4 hours one way) to the Scottish capital was another holiday highlight. 

The third extra was taken from the backseat when passing under the since long disused railway bridge at Cargenbridge, near Dumfries, once connecting Galloway to Dumfries and Carlisle. Note the fine stone architecture, and the stars of Europe which have outlasted the complicating efforts of Brexit.
