Grimsthorpe Castle
... our 'neighbours' whose grand house (rather than its fancy name of 'castle') is visible on the horizon from our home. Membership of Historic Houses lets us in free, so we went there today with our daughter and her children to enjoy the sunshine. Which we did, despite a sudden clap of thunder directly overhead after a flash. The other thunder was gentle rumblings bringing showers of heavy rain, We were so hot that the rain was quite pleasant, though we did shelter in the cafe, moving from an outdoor table to finish our snacks and drinks.
Today the boy had wheels so there were no complaints. His sister had her bike She and her mum are tiny dots in the distance, bottom left. Can anybody identify the flower, centre bottom? With multi-coloured heads to each stem, it was so pretty!
Tonight we trotted down the road after dark to try and spot shooting stars. We saw 1.5, so a bit disappointing. Meanwhile, I tried photographing night trains as they approached the bridge. Nothing spectacular, but I liked the effect of the illuminated rails in my Extra.
