Waited many years

Last century, when we still in the Ponsonby villa, and with help from my brother-in-law, I repaired the picket fence which had been with the house since about 1910. This entailed replacing the original posts. I stored them under the house, and on each move since then (only a few) the posts came too.
I had this idea of using them in some way, despite my relative lack of skills, and definite lack of tools. The large corner and gate posts (6inx6in) were Totara. Smaller posts (2inx4in) were Rimu. 
The posts were joined by the back door jamb when we had a sunroom added. And other pieces of wood (some rimu and some Kauri) were added to the pile.
Daughter J knows someone who is a good woodworker. She is our architect for the renovations at the A-Frame, and she and S talked with Keith who understood what I (and they) wanted to do with the posts. He cut off the outside damaged bits and found enough pieces of the right thickness and length which he then combined into a table top, sanded the wood to bring out the colour and grain, and sealed it. 
The builders put it in its place beside the entry to the new kitchen.
