Ferns

The sword ferns are volunteers that have been growing around our dahlia boxes recently. We constructed our dahlia raised bed boxes about 11 years ago and sadly this will be their last year as they have been decomposing rapidly over the last couple of years.
I believe we started out with 10 dahlia plants, many growing 5-6 feet tall with a multitude of large blooms.
Over the years some have failed to come up in the summer so that now we have only 4 stunted plants (but still with beautiful flowers)!
The verdict is still out as to whether we will rebuild and start over.
