On the Line

A visit today to the Launceston Steam railway in Cornwall. This narrow gauge railway is probably one of the less well known preserved railways in Britain and is full of character. The engine shown here is Lilian. She is 140 years old and once worked in the slate quarries in Wales. The station itself was at one time on the line which carried passengers on holiday from London, to Padstow on the north Cornwall coast.
