The Bridge & The Bridge

A trip to Newcastle today for myself and Mr YB.  My photo is of the Bridge public house and the Tyne Bridge to the right and the High Level Bridge to the left.

Previously we had been to an exhibition of Turner paintings at the Laing Art Gallery where his painting The Fighting Temeraire is the centrepiece (see extra for a photo of the advertising poster).  

We then had a lovely lunch at the cafe at St Nicholas's cathedral and for the first time ever I walked over the High Level Bridge and back again.  
We then headed to our bus stop but enroute stopped off at the Lit & Phil (The Literary and Philosophical Society founded in 1793).  We spoke to two lovely volunteers who told us about its history and explained the were rebinding some of its vast collection of books.  We were free to wander around and have a coffee or tea if we wanted and were given a free bookmark.  A grand day out.
