Inferno

An even hotter day, probably the hottest of the year!
We cycled  into town early,  to do some shopping, to avoid the heat and the crowds of festival goers leaving Boomtown.
This afternoon, fortunately we were able to stay in doors.

This plant is a kind of "hot water plant", an   x Achimenantha "Inferno" . The first rhizome was given to my aunt who managed to propagate  more, and pass them on to me. When she died last January, between us there were  lots of pots of dormant  rhizomes, ready to be repotted. so, I prepared about fifty pots, each containing a few rhizomes, and offered them to attendees at  her funeral. Recently, I have heard from several of her friends  who said how delighted they are that their  plants are now flowering, as are mine, as a lovely reminder  of Aunty Frances.
