The young rowers are such a polite well-mannered lot, but even they break the rules sometimes!

Kingston Regatta, a very long hot day, Tom rowing in double and quad getting a tough draw and with limited success and finishing grumpy, disappointed and tired. At the end of the day 15 year old Charlie had to be pulled from her boat with heat exhaustion after a very long hard-fought race in the girls quad. The other kids waited patiently as she was treated in the ambulance and then pitched in together beautifully to support her and holding cold compresses on her as they tried to reduce her temperature, all their grumpiness forgotten. An hour or so later she was fine, but on the long drive home we heard about the soldiers who died from heat exhaustion the same day - a sobering tale.
