An ordinary life....

Heatwave…

In England. Oh how we laughed!!

We met at the fabulous cafe at the art gallery in Llanbedrog. It was raining. Withers was flagging. Pavlova revived her.

Then we all headed to Lavender House, a local family run shop that sells everything! It’s fabulous! Jane and I loved it very much and made purchases. D & J were thrilled to be there too (pic in extras)

From there we headed to Harlech as the husbands were playing golf at Royal St David’s golf course, which was booked months ago. Jane and I planned to visit the castle.

Once there we went our separate ways and as the cafe at the castle was full, Withers and I decided to head to the Castle first. In the pouring rain. Torrential rain. Horizontal rain. Wind blown deluge rain. Comedy rain. Did I mention it was raining?

OMG what a sight we must have been. We gave it our best shot! The woman who greeted us at the Castle Entrance was a delight. Even took our photo. Then we headed off round the ramparts joking about being blown off and almost actually being blown off!

We persevered for a little while then joint decision was made to retreat back to the cafe and wait for a table to be free. Fortunately a table was available and over tea and cake we agreed that the best view of the castle on this particular day, was from the cafe! :-)). Thankfully the visit didn’t cost us anything as wheelchair users and companion get free entry. See, I am a useful person to know :-))

We were convinced the guys would return any minute having abandoned their golf plans, but nope, they valiantly carried on. It had cost them a lot of money and they were determined to play!

Withers and I abandoned plans to visit shops on the little High Street. There was a yarn shop but we both agreed neither of us were desperate enough for yarn (we could open a shop between us with all the yarn we have at home :-) to brave the weather again, so it was back to the car and back to the cottage (where it was dry! lol) and we arrived just in time to see the local farmer move his cows from the field beside us to a field further up the road.

Much chatting ensued till the husbands returned much later, having played the full 18 holes! David, being a Scottish golfer, plays in the rain a lot. He had an unfair advantage.

A supper of cheese and biscuits, crisps and hummus was hastily arranged then realising the time, Withers and Jim had to rush off Cinderella style for fear they’d be locked out of their hotel! We all head home tomorrow :-(

Wales, it has been a blast. Despite the schizophrenic weather you have gained a special place in our hearts and we definitely hope to return.

An assortment of Blip Pals have made our holiday even more special and we thank you all.

It may have been a monsoon today (Withers said many bad words as friends sent pics of themselves baking in the English heatwave :-)) but we agreed that the weather we encountered today gave us hilarious memories that will be more fondly recalled than if we’d spent the day in glorious sunshine. Every cloud and all that :-))

PS due to virtually non existent WiFi I’ve not been able to respond to comments. Will remedy that once I’m home!
