Wheal Coates
The sunshine returned and we visited the pretty little town of St Agnes and the tin mine, Wheal Coates, that is perched on the cliffs above it. It's the most photographed mine engine house in the country for obvious reasons. It was looking particularly lovely today set amongst a tapestry of yellow flowering gorse and purple flowering heather, and against a piercingly blue sea and sky.
It's impossible to imagine the hard life of the 19th century miners who toiled here.
