Imperfect visually...
...but delicious nevertheless.
Parsnips that I dug yesterday have now been cleaned of soil and I will be making mash with them later, to top a chicken-based shepherds' cottage (another variation on that theme).
My morning in G's garden was a happy chatty affair as usual.
Today our conversation ranged from people being blind to the climate crisis, to conspiracy theorists, to five year old children's parties, to the signs of spring, to responsible dog ownership, to the best ingredients for homemade liquid fertiliser, to sharing a load of whizzbang compost from the local seller, to hairdressers, to cheese (of course: we invariably talk about cheese).
I always feel mentally energised when I get home from G's. And having listed the topics we covered I can see why.
While we burbled we sowed seeds, split strawberry plants, cut back dead vegetation in the herbaceous border, watered the shade house which is full of seedlings and cuttings, and planted narcissi bulbs (too late for this year, but they'll look wonderful in 12 months' time).
So no wonder I felt quite physically tired when I get home.
Lunch of spicy pumpkin soup, homemade cheese and crackers sorted that out. And soon I was ready for a good walk with the Beandog, before getting on with some gardening Chez Mima.
I do love the early signs of spring and the lift it gives me: body and soul.
