Riesenrad
When the first of those Ferris wheels grew into the Munich nightsky in January this year, people were wondering what this was all about. In the middle of winter in the Freimann industrial area you wouldn't necessarily expect a funfair to happen. The answer to the riddle was, that a Munich company started to build the world's tallest mobile Ferris wheels (80 meters high). And it is part of the production process to assemble the structure at the company's site in order to present it to the German TÜV for a check of safety. Afterwards the Ferris wheel has to be dismanteled again to ship it to the customer, where it obviously has to be re-erected. The winter wheel was shipped to Mexico; where the blipped one (which isn't completed yet - the gondolas are still missing) is going to I don't know.
Some technical data: 80 metres high, 750 tonnes (plus another 750 tonnes for the foundation), 54 gondolas, 432 passengers.
