J’s garden
The house was built in about 1650 and has one of those very long narrow country gardens. I like the lovely montbretia, which is out all over this part of Cornwall at the moment. On the right are the vegetable beds he used to grow food in when he was able to. Feels a bit sad that they are empty and weedy now. He also used to have goats. I remember they were sweet, but unruly:)
Today we went for a little walk, did the washing, and went to the supermarket. Can’t do a lot, really, but we had a nice day. The first extra is looking back up the garden. We did two loads of washing, there’s the first one, drying fast in the sun and the wind. This year, in the spirit of no mow May, they only mowed a wide path down the length of the garden. And left the rest to grow. It’s full of wild flowers, especially purple knapweed at the moment. I was so pleased to see a peacock butterfly, so I’ve included that as an extra, even tho it’s not a good photo.
