Saint Mathieu

Can you tell I like lighthouses :)) This one is beside a ruined Abbey and replaces the fire the monks used to light to guide sailors. The Abbey is impressive and inside there was a great photoraphic exhibition. On the grounds of the lighthouse there is a cenotaph, built in such a way to make you feel like you are on the water it has photos, no names, of hundreds of marines, sailors and fishermen who have died at sea in the Iroise.
We had a great walk along the GR34 to the lighthouse. We meandered along passing all the little coves.  Our timing was off though unfortunately and we missed the climb to the top.  We stopped at one of the afrementioned coves on our way back for a dip and a nap.
The weather here is either stunning or misty.  No in between.  Thankfully we have had more of the former than the latter.
