Oddness abounds

JK Rowling is outed as crime fiction author Robert Galbraith. You can argue how much of it is a publicity stunt if you like. For me, though, there has been an unanticipated but very welcome outcome.

Type 'Robert Galbraith' into Amazon UK's search bar and results two and three are Natural Causes and The Book of Souls.

I can think of no reason why this should be the case. As far as I am aware, the books aren't similar. Neither have Penguin paid for an advantageous position. It is, as they say, pure jammy luck.

The effect on sales has been very noticeable though, Natural Causes making it up to number 67 in the Amazon UK sales chart from a previous slot on the low 400s. The Book of Souls has done well too.

So thank you, Jo Rowling. It seems I must owe you a pint!
