Findhorn Village

We had our first full day in Findhorn and after taking our grandchildren onto Findhorn Bay to playn on the sand, we had a walk around the widen community here.  It has a long history of alternative culture including food production, and energy generation and conservation.

My Blip is of a vegetable bed that does what it says on the label. Just next to a series of similar beds are about 20 compost bins. Any food waste or garden cuttings can go into the black bins that feel like polystyrene, and are certainly insulated. The temperature in one of the bins was 100C so the composting was going well.

BrambleBlossom's question was whether or not the soil/compost went all the way to the ground. I suspect the lower parts were a nutrient poor substrate of sorts. I'll try and find out in the next few days.
