Hampshire Harvest
A quick stop to record a timeless rural scene. Whilst some of the machinery has changed and fields have been enlarged, crops have been cut for centuries. I remember a hot, exhausting school holiday job stacking the bales onto the huge trucks.
What struck me the most was that, as I took a few paces across the stubble, the soil was thin, solid and felt lifeless. Some farms around here have already started to reduce their reliance on fertiliser and pay attention to soil health. I'm hoping that this owner will find enough benefits in the farm funding to change his practices.
I'll let you know, and try to ride past one of the 'healthier' fields to capture the contrast.
