Isla Immortalised
Big boys do cry… Though in fairness this had @mxgolding welling up as well…
Back in June we visited a few artist studios as part of Open Studios Stirlingshire, and at one I monopolised the time of an artist called Kerry Lindsell far too much. But I loved her work, and she was very kind about mine.
A few weeks back I finally got round to commissioning a drawing of Isla. Our current trio are obviously very special, but Isla was my wee girl. It’s almost 2 and a half years since she departed to chase the eternal mouse, but I still occasionally see her out of the corner of my eye and miss her nightly lapcat routine (leaning against Mel for the first part of the evening, before, at almost exactly the same time every night, moving over to sit fully on me); or coming round the house to meet us if we were home late; terrorising the local foxes; or sitting up to bat at my hand.
Need to get a mount and frame, then decide where she’s going to live. But thank you Kerry, it’s not been the best of weeks, however this cheered me no end.
I can’t recommend Kerry enough for your pet portraits (cats, dogs, horses, she can do it all, and it’s not too early to start thinking about Christmas presents!).
