Sunflower sippers

The sunflowers are at their peak and so many are enjoying them including me! Today the monarchs showed up and stayed in the sunflowers for hours. Others like this skipper were around as well. The gold finch, cardinals, bees and even the bushy tails have been indulging since the first bloom. It's quite a bit of work but well worth it. We spread some chicken manure in the area this year and we have sunflowers 10' to 12' tall. We plant several varieties.
I worked in the gardens today and took in an estate sale. Picked up a few things for other people and a few crabbing supplies and what nots. The weather was beautiful except for the fishermen. Hubby was up at 3:30  he and his friend went across the bay to the target ships. The wind was against the tide making for sloppy fishing. They caught 2 blues and a large Atlantic ray. It was just to rough to be any fun so they called an early day of it. Better luck next time.
