Miles Hunt of The Wonder Stuff

A bit of history...

When I was a student (way back in the late 80's/early '90's), I'd spend many a Thursday or Friday (sometimes even Saturday) at 'indie' nights at local nightclubs where I lived in Middlesbrough . The music we would dance to would be by a mix of bands I still hold dear - The Wedding Present, The House of Love, The Fall, My Bloody Valentine and, of course, The Smiths. When the first Wonder Stuff album was released you could guarantee that the DJ would play at least three songs per night night from it...that's how good it was. It still brings a huge smile to my face whenever I hear it.

I bumped into Miles Hunt of The Wonder Stuff in Birmingham's BullRing today. I tell him that I used to see the band play live at The Hummingbird in Birmingham, Aston Villa Leisure Centre and Glastonbury....

..."and Boots!" he jokes. He's very friendly and doesn't mind being blipped.

I spend the rest of the day remembering the nights spent listening and dancing to the likes of the Wonder Stuff. Great memories.

Here's a song from that brilliant first album.

PS Many thanks to Ben for encouraging me to take this blip.

PPS Miles will be performing live at the Hare and Hounds in Birmingham tomorrow if any one is in the vicinity.
