Newts in the pond

I finally or I should say we (my grandson and I) spent a while skimming the duck weed off the surface of the pond and discovered lots of newt tadpoles.  So the whole operation meant we tried hard to rescue the ones we could and I alway create a slime pile at the side of the pond with the hope that anything living can slide back into the water.  It looks so much better now, but I think it's reached a stage where it all needs to be re-done.  I guess winter will be the time as I think the newts leave the water in the winter and find somewhere to sit it out.  (Not sure- need to check this out.)
