J.K. Rowling

I drew this portrait of J.K. Rowling on Saturday, then a couple of days later she was in the news because her new book, written under the pseudonym of Robert Galbraith, had topped the charts. The Cuckoo's Calling had received universally positive reviews, many critics surprised at the accomplished style of this first-time novelist. The Harry Potter stories have bought countless hours of pleasure to millions of fans around the world, including me, and it is great to see that J.K. Rowling is recognised for work other than just children's books. She is an inspiration, having given away a vast percentage of her fortune to charity. I agree with Danny Boyle; the Monarchy is an anachronism but, if we must have a monarch, he or she should be elected every four or five years and, at the moment, J.K. Rowling would be a wonderful Queen of Great Britain.
